There are some senior sessions that just feel like summer from beginning to end—and Juliana’s session was definitely one of them! For her summer senior portrait session, Juliana knew exactly what she wanted: flowers, beautiful scenery, gorgeous dresses, and a sunset. And I think we checked every box!
As one of my KDP Influencer Team girls, I always love seeing each senior bring her own personality and ideas to her sessions. Juliana wanted her summer session to feel feminine, colorful, fun, and a little bit playful. We planned two beautiful locations to make it happen: Rue De Fleur in Danville, Indiana, and Coxhall Gardens in Carmel, Indiana.
We started Juliana’s summer senior photography session at Rue De Fleur, a beautiful flower farm in Danville, Indiana. If you love flowers and are looking for a unique location for senior pictures near Indianapolis, this property is absolutely gorgeous!
The flower fields were stunning, and the property offered so much more than just flowers. There is also a beautiful pond and dock, giving us several different backdrops without having to leave the property.
And as if the flowers weren't enough, the owner of Rue De Fleur created a gorgeous fresh flower bouquet for Juliana to use during her session. It was the perfect addition to her portraits and tied everything together beautifully.
One of my favorite things about senior photography is getting to create a gallery that feels like the senior—not just taking a few photos in one outfit and calling it done.
Juliana brought three outfits for her time at Rue De Fleur, and each one gave us a completely different look.
First was a beautiful long pink floral dress. With the flower fields surrounding her, this outfit was absolutely perfect. The combination of the dress, flowers, and natural setting created those dreamy summer senior portraits that look like they belong in a fairytale.
Then we switched things up with a short, sassy dress paired with cowboy boots. This outfit brought out a completely different side of Juliana. It was fun, playful, and full of personality!
Finally, she changed into a more casual look featuring a strapless yellow top and blue jeans. I love including at least one casual outfit during a senior session because those images often end up being some of my favorites. They feel relaxed and natural and really allow a senior's personality to shine.
We had so much fun exploring the property, changing outfits, laughing, and finding all the little spots that made Juliana's session unique.
After finishing at Rue De Fleur, we headed to Coxhall Gardens in Carmel, Indiana, for the second part of Juliana's senior portrait session.
Coxhall Gardens is such a beautiful location for senior pictures in the Indianapolis area. The park has gorgeous architecture, ponds, walking paths, and plenty of natural scenery, which gives us tons of variety for portraits.
And then, of course, there was the sunset!
For this portion of the session, Juliana chose two beautiful dresses. The change in location, light, and wardrobe gave the second half of her gallery a completely different feel from the flower farm.
We spent the evening wandering around the gardens, finding beautiful pockets of light, and taking advantage of that gorgeous golden-hour glow. Sunset sessions are always worth the wait, and Coxhall Gardens gave us the perfect backdrop.
Because senior pictures should be personal and fun, we also worked one of Juliana's favorite things into the session: Starbucks!
Sometimes the little details are what make a senior gallery feel truly personal. Including something she actually loves gave us some fun, candid images that felt completely like Juliana.
What I loved most about Juliana's summer senior session was the variety. We went from colorful flower fields in Danville to the beautiful gardens of Carmel. We photographed formal dresses, a fun western-inspired look with cowboy boots, a casual outfit, flowers, a bouquet, ponds, architecture, golden-hour light—and even her favorite Starbucks drink!
That's one of my favorite things about senior photography. Your senior pictures don't have to look like everyone else's. They should reflect who you are, what you love, and the things that make you, you.
Whether you envision dreamy flower-field portraits, a fun urban senior session, beautiful sunset photos, or a combination of several different styles, your senior session can be completely customized around you.
